We aren’t rich because of our money but because of our experiences. To travel is to learn, to live, to become a truer version of ourselves. Until we know how other people live we can’t fully understand our own lives.
I am so lucky to live in Europe and to have all these different countries, cultures, climates just a couple of hours flight away! Of course travel doesn’t only mean holidays. Making the decision when I was 24 to move to Spain was one of the best, most exciting and challenging things I have ever done.
I would encourage everyone to travel. It doesn’t have to be to another country, even just to another city or village. It doesn’t have to be expensive either, look for public transport or car sharing and find a cheap hostel, Airbnb room or apartment, even better if it has kitchen facilities as you can save money by cooking sometimes instead of eating out 3 meals a day. I can’t remember the last time I stayed in a hotel, I much prefer getting a more ‘local’ feel for the place I’m visiting; speaking to the locals, getting recommendations, finding where and what they eat, the ways they spend their evenings.
I’m very lucky to have travelled extensively in Europe, although there’s still plenty more to see and experience! If you enjoy travel vlogs you’ll find mine here.
I’ve been very lucky to travel extensively around Europe and one day I hope to have visited all the EU countries and plenty more outside of Europe.
